SOLD: Caged 1996 VW Jetta
« on: February 22, 2017, 09:31:16 AM »
1996 VW Jetta Trek
220,000kms
-Would be great for Autocross, Rallycross, or ice dice.
-Caged, well built although design is not up to CARS standards, and is not logbooked
-2.0L ABA 8v, with TT 268 cam, TT cam gear, TT stage 1 chip, homebrew intake with ducting, OBX header, full Borla exhaust, Autech spark plug Wires. Runs strong and has a fun lopey cam idle to it.
-Currently has the econobox DFQ gearbox, but a 8v GTI box comes with the car. Currently has a Peloquin 80% diff kit, TT short shifter and ABD weighted linkage.
-Currently sitting on stock suspension, no sway bars (was planning on building for stage rally, but plans changed.) Does have full Poly bushes front and rear though, lower subframe brace, and a front strut tower brace.
-Rear disc conversion, front and rear braided lines, and Motul RBF600 fluid
-Has Seibon carbon fibre hood with sparco hood pins, FK glass halo style headlights, comes with smoked signals/fogs not installed, vr6 front lip, FK "WRC" style mirrors (spare set included too), has had rear arches cut out to accomodate large wheels and tires at one point. Comes with evolution aluminum skid plate (not currently installed)
-Comes with a whole bunch of stock 14" VW wheels, mainly teardrops. (Will have to look at how many I actually have)
-Has unknown brand racing seats installed (non-FIA), latch and link Racequip harnesses, gutted interior, unknown brand steering wheel and hub, push button start, and battery relocated to the truck, in a Summit Racing battery box.

Things it could use-
-New Battery, this one doesn't like the cold very much.
-Water Pump Belt, this one is a little cracked
-different front strut mounts. The ones currently in it are for the early mk3, and don't sit quite right, would need the later mk3/vr6/corrado mounts
-Alignment. Drives pretty straight, but has a lot of camber on the rear from shims from it's previous life as an autocrosser

Many spares and extra parts included

SOLD!

Can the cage be made CARS legal with additions? Or is it just straight wrong?

To the best of my knowledge, it would have to be redone. I do think the footplates could be reused however.
