2016 Loop Rally - Entries Open & Supps
« on: July 01, 2016, 10:09:59 PM »
Hey All,

Entries for the 2016 Loop Rally are now open and the Supplemental Regulations are available for download.

http://www.cscc.ab.ca/Loop_Rally/

More importantly George Benda has signed on to help organise the event!  Thanks George!

Same area as last year... still got 2 bridges out that are preventing us from using some neat areas but we will of course endeavor to put together an interesting route :)

This is an overnight rally starting in Nanton at 7PM. We haven't decided on a finish location yet to keep our route options open. Options are Claresholm, Coleman or even Fernie.

Any Qs let me know!

Kurt

On June 30 our regular checks showed that water was no longer flowing over the road and so we reopened the road to public access.
We recognize that this access road is used by a number of people and that the seasonal closure may cause inconvenience – we thank you for your patience shown during this time.

At all times, please be aware that this road is a private industrial road and access is at your own risk. The road is not maintained for public traffic.

We have updated the website with some route planning photos.

The route is complete... it is fantastic :)

Rallysport has tossed in a LED Light Bar for top finishing Novice and we have some Flames preseason tickets and a road rally handbook for early entries.

We are a bit light on entries and volunteers...

Hi, I'm looking to enter this rally. It's my first time and have a couple questions.
Can me and my co driver take turns driving?
I'm also trying to figure out what a Accessory odometer is so I can buy one.
Thanks for all the help

No, driver must remain driver for stages, although you can switch on transits.

An accessory odometer is a really accurate odometer (brantz, timewise, monit, etc), but they are spendy, and really aren't necessary for tsd's, specifically for 1st time novices.

I would argue that proper lights are more important if  you felt the need to spend money.

Thanks Jeff,  when you say the transit does that mean from the end of one stage to the beginning of another stage? i'm trying to use sharing the driving as of negotiation to convince somebody to co drive with me lol

You'll require a co-driver for this event and if you do switch duties even on transits you can no longer earn any championship points or event awards.

These roads look killer. This whole "thru the night" concept is insane.

Bump, who's on the fence?  What can I tell you that would make you sign up (other than this being an awesome event on great roads)?

That would describe me.
I have a 1988 Toyota Land Cruiser (HJ61 for those in the know) , with some wicked awesome lights, and tires that gobble up gravel roads in a way that is totally un-fair to for road cars.  But, it's very definately, not a rally car.  I am a rank amatuer at TSD rally; this would be my first every rally event of any description. However, I have enourmous experience piloting Land Cruisers on windy gravel roads, in the dark, in a manner consistent with what some might consider, 'rally inspired'.  I have a co-pilot in mind who does have TSD rally experience.
The other vehicular option is my new-to-me 1989 MR2 S/C.  But, lights are stock, and it's on streety tires, and it would need mud flaps to keep the gravel rash off the vintage bodywork.  Plus, it's got no room in it for my on-board freezer to keep ice cream sandwiches (which I would totally have running in the Land Cruiser for this event).
Please convince me and my co-pilot to sign up in some type of vehicle. What would you recommend.
