How does one go about becoming a rally-specific mechanic? Im very interested in this as a career choice, that is, if my future career as a driver falls short!

Well it started as a hobby and if you knocking on the right doors and talking to the right people and your good then you can start your career on a full time base.

In the Netherlands we have alot of WRC Cars and rally is very popular but there are only 3 big private team with alot of money. There not the best top 15 WRC driver in the world but the have the best cars.
But there have been better times due to recession

I assume that you need an AST(automotive service technician) certificate, and some kind of international liscence?

To start with a AST certificate is always good. But with the Rally/Race Cars is all about the experience you can not get a certificate with that.

This may be a silly question, but does the black and grey mitsubishi(bottom right) have tires mounted on the wheels and if so what profile are they.  I'm just curious.  Sorry to go  Off Topic

Is there any teams in Canada with professional mechanics?

I think this is one of the coolest jobs.
