The weather forecast calls for -23 degrees for the high on Sunday.  Does this mean the event will be cancelled or postponed?

I believe at the club meeting last night, Gary was saying he'd be making the call tonight. I think he was looking to see if the course could be set tonight, both to see the condition of the lot (hard-packed 3' drifts, like at the clubhouse, could make it a non-starter), and not wanting to be out in the dark in -28C Sunday morning setting the course. Gary can of course chime in to correct me on any of that...

Another part of the issue is that below about -20, cones just shatter when hit, so busting 10 or 20 cones at $10.50 a pop starts to add up, although at a lot of winter autocross events, there isn't really a lot of cone carnage.

********** UPDATE **********
Dec 13th / 2009 Event Cancel
***************************

With the weather man calling for day time temp. between -24 and -26 deg C with a wind chill closing in on -30, this week weekends event is being canceled.

Reason why it is to cold to hold the event
1) safety and Health...
Although it is everyone own responsibility to come dressed prepared for the weather, event after event I see people poorly dressed for the weather. ei running shoes, no toque, hood, etc...
It is my responsibility to ensure a safe event

2) Equipment
Cones tend to explode below -20,
we every like distroy a couple hundred dollar of them

Car Plastic bits on cars tend to break and crack, when hit cones at these temps...
we every like distroy a couple hundred dollar of car

Timing
The cold it gets poor the time lights work...
timing problems in the cold are no fun.

3) Fun
Wax is meant to be Fun and at -25 or -30 it is much less fun... getting close to no fun.
