Solo Sprint 2009 – Race City’s Last Year

With Race City slated to close at the end of 2009, for participants in the 2009 Solo Sprint Series, we’ve planned the biggest year EVER of Solo Sprint competition.

  More track days than ever.
  4 days at Strato tech Park in Edmonton.
  Hosting a 3 day Regional Event for racers from the Solo Sprint program and from across the West.

Registration Day is April 4th 1pm to 4pm at the Calgary Sports Car Clubhouse; we’ll notify you of the registration details and the fees shortly.

why are most events on weekdays instead of weekends?  Won't that require many people to take days off from work for these?

I am still interested but this is not quite as convenient as weekends.

At least we got the one full weekend luckily. The track is heavily booked and they didn't offer us any other weekends. The only good thing is the weekday price is a bit lower.

Thanks Murray!  If pricing could be discussed in this thread prior to April 4th I'd love to know as well.

This will affect my tire decision and budget for the rest of my build

Ans:
Even though Race City is in the final year, all weekends for the road course are booked solid.  There are two weekend sessions for Strato Tech and the Regional weekend event at Race City.  Weekdays were not the first choice, as it turns out it worked rather well last year.

That would be depend on the availability of space for the event and if the drop person has previous Solo Sprint experience.  Yes, there is a chance.

This is a Regional event that includes Aug 14 (lapping), 15(timed event), and 16(timed event).  At least one of the days will be Event #5, we need to work out the details.

Ans:
We will be working through the budget over the next few weeks, definitely keeping in mind the current economic conditions…stay tuned.

That being said, I won't be participating in solo1 this year as my car will not be ready in time. may some people sit in at the "in class" school dates for WCMA certification for the 2009 season in hopes there is an opening for drop ins?

I am guessing the classroom session is almost required for those who have never been part of the series before and recommended for others right?

Any additional cost to it or this is part of the fee for the series?  I will attend for sure!
