Hi Erik,

Thanks for the update. Is it possible to book now, or did I miss a step?

Also, where and what is Strato Tech in Edmonton?

Thanks,

Hi Erik,

Your post says that registration is on-site at the clubhouse.  I'm from Edmonton and I'm interested.  Is there a way I can register without having to come down to Calgary?

Hi Erik,
Also, where and what is Strato Tech in Edmonton?
I didn't figure out how to copy/paste a useful google earth bookmark, but here are the coordinates:
         longitude: 113°14'0.05"W
         latitude: 53°44'5.48"N

It's just north of Fort Saskatchewan on Highway 825

Are the Solo 1 school dates, two individual schools or do we require both dates to obtain the license?
How much will it be this year?
Also registration at the club, does this mean it is first come first serve?

Thanks

What procedures are contemplated should Solo 1 be oversubscribed? Lottery? Seniority-i.e. returning competitors?A line up at the clubhouse at 4AM seems unseemly, uncomfortable and difficult for people such as I who aren't in Calgary.

These are very good questions, keep them coming!

Our next committee meeting is on January 29, the questions will be addressed at that time.

Thanks!

Would you consider setting a certain number of spots aside for those who can't make all events?
For example if you wanted a max of 40 cars/event, you could sell 20 spots in each of the 3 following packages:
Package 'A' would be the school of your choice of school (assuming the 2 schools are the same), plus all events and lapping days.
Package 'B' could have all the Monday events, the Monday school, and the Sat RCMP lapping.
Package 'C' could be the all the weekend events, the Sat school, and the Strato lapping day.

Would you consider sell the full packages first? So us that want to run the full season (all the events) get to buy first, if there are spots left over sell those spots to people that just want to run a few events. I think it's better to give priority to people wanting to run the full season.

Also if there is a priority given to people I think members that ran solosprint last year should be given priority so they can continue with their driving development and help the events run smoothly since they know the routine and can contribute more right from the start.

There was talk at the end of last season about if the bus stop would be incorporated into this years solo sprint season. Has there be any decision on if the bus stop will be used this season?

I think they are considering a ton of people are going to want to do Solo I.

Im not saying that they will say if you don't like it the 20 people behind you will sign up as they CSCC is not like that but it may be a balance of this is what we could get so we have to work with it and were sorry it will not work for everyone.

I am lucky and I can get Mondays off if needed but I feel for the people who are going to have a tricky time pulling it off.

I don't believe this information was put forward to everybody, so here you go...

At the last club meeting (Jan. 3rd), I believe it was decided that only Calgary Sports Car Club members will be accepted for Solo I sign-up this year. This was primarily for two reasons:

1. a lot of people are interested in doing Solo I
2. since it's our club organizing and running Solo I, we should give priority to the club members

I hope this will clarify some questions...

One thing to consider would be having less sessions per day and then more people could come to an event.  Most events last year we did 4 sessions.  I'd be fine with 3.  And maybe even try to squeeze in more cars per run group, since it was not very commone for cars to get close to each other.

I am considering going down to the US to do some NASA time trials on some tracks in California and Utah this year.  Down there, the concept is completely different.  They are run more like a lapping day with passing, and they take your best time per session.  That way you can get way more people in for an event.

Thats a completely different concept than how we do SoloI.  I'm not even sure if it's possible under Cdn rules to do that.

I think priority should be based on your score from the previous year.  It's an incentive to do well.

You'd should combine all the points from every event to give each person an overall score.

I'm happy with that given that I would have been the overall points leader with a score of 399.758 out of 400.   Laughing
